  • More pedestrian signage needed

Share More pedestrian signage needed on Facebook Share More pedestrian signage needed on Twitter Share More pedestrian signage needed on Linkedin Email More pedestrian signage needed link

    Idea
My husband and I are frequent walkers in Rehoboth and Dewey. We have witnessed countless near miss collisions between bikers and pedestrians due to pedestrians walking the incorrect direction on the shoulder. The only indicators we have seen are on route one near Tower Rd. and by the sailboat marina. We feel that the town should look into more signage particularly on the stretch from Silver Lake to downtown Dewey. Thanks so much for listening to our concerns.

    Staff response
Thank you for this suggestion. It has been shared with our public works department but as this area is outside of city limits, I'm not sure there is anything that we can do. I will check to see if there is a contact at DelDOT that we can share this suggestion with.

  • Added intersecting street signage on the Boardwalk

Share Added intersecting street signage on the Boardwalk on Facebook Share Added intersecting street signage on the Boardwalk on Twitter Share Added intersecting street signage on the Boardwalk on Linkedin Email Added intersecting street signage on the Boardwalk link

    Idea

It's not easy to find the intersecting street signs when walking the Boardwalk. Street signs are on gazebos, building sides, on the beach signs, etc. Consistent signage such as street signs on the lampposts along the Boardwalk will allow children and visitors to know quickly where they are located.

    Staff response

Thank you for the suggestion. We've shared it with our public works department and city management. We'll also be sure to share with commissioners via a monthly report on Reach Out Rehoboth activity.

  • Transparency on budget

Share Transparency on budget on Facebook Share Transparency on budget on Twitter Share Transparency on budget on Linkedin Email Transparency on budget link

    Idea:

I know the City has a thorough annual budget. Could some of the budget background be on this site? For example, if I wanted to know how much debt is still outstanding on our city hall construction and how much we pay on it each year, how would I find that out? But mostly thanks for this site. It is very useful. Happy 4th of July!

    Staff feedback:

Many communities utilize their engagement pages for the budgeting process and to provide related documents. This may be a good opportunity for the City of Rehoboth Beach to explore during the budget season. Thank you for the suggestion.

Related to your specific questions, JP Morgan Chase holds the loan on City Hall construction at a fixed rate of 1.61%. The current balance is $14,402,312.71. The loan is being reduced by more than $315,000 with each quarterly payment, and the amount of reduction increases with each payment. The loan matures in January 2037.

  • More moped parking

Share More moped parking on Facebook Share More moped parking on Twitter Share More moped parking on Linkedin Email More moped parking link

    Idea:

More moped parking. Balt & Wilm are full by early afternoon. Mostly restaurant employees. There is NO parking on Reho Ave.

    Staff response:

Thank you for sharing your suggestion. We have passed along your comment to our parking department for review. Also, please be aware that all permitted scooters may also parking in all permit areas.

  • Weekly/monthly parking permits only in residential areas

Share Weekly/monthly parking permits only in residential areas on Facebook Share Weekly/monthly parking permits only in residential areas on Twitter Share Weekly/monthly parking permits only in residential areas on Linkedin Email Weekly/monthly parking permits only in residential areas link

    Idea:

Put signs up indicating dead end streets to eliminate unnecessary turn arounds. Prevent use of fire lane as an unloading zone. Additionally, disincentive day trippers by preventing daily permits in residential areas. They have no stake in the community and threaten residents with their belligerence.

    Staff feedback:

Thank you for your suggestion. We've shared it with the parking department and will share with commissioners as well.

  • US Wind agreement

    Comment:

Please don't be bought off by U.S. Wind's offer of $100,000 for our silence. This will never cover the expected revenue loss.

    Staff Feedback:

Thank you for your comment. It has been shared with the Board of Commissioners.

  • Remove one parking space from each intersection on 1st and 2nd streets

Share Remove one parking space from each intersection on 1st and 2nd streets on Facebook Share Remove one parking space from each intersection on 1st and 2nd streets on Twitter Share Remove one parking space from each intersection on 1st and 2nd streets on Linkedin Email Remove one parking space from each intersection on 1st and 2nd streets link

    Idea:

With cars parked so close to the intersections, it is nearly impossible to see crossing traffic until you pull out onto the main streets. This is particularly onerous from Baltimore, Maryland Olive and Virginia Avenues. If the loss of revenue from 16 parking spaces is financially burdensome, lower the speed limit on 1st and 2nd Streets to 15mph.

    Staff feedback:

Thank you for your suggestion. It has been shared with the parking department, acting city manager, and traffic study consultant. We'll also share your idea with commissioners via a regular monthly report.

  • Clearly identify 30-minute parking spots

Share Clearly identify 30-minute parking spots on Facebook Share Clearly identify 30-minute parking spots on Twitter Share Clearly identify 30-minute parking spots on Linkedin Email Clearly identify 30-minute parking spots link

    Idea:

Use better signage to identify 30 min parking spots. Stop people pulling in and then having to back out, because the sign is too low to see.

    Staff feedback:

Thank you for the suggestion. Our understanding is that this is one of the recommendations that will be made by Rossi Group to commissioners.

  • Update the water tower sign

Share Update the water tower sign on Facebook Share Update the water tower sign on Twitter Share Update the water tower sign on Linkedin Email Update the water tower sign link

    Idea:

In these days of social media, things like the water tower are prime advertising opportunities for the City of Rehoboth tourism board. Today's water towers use a rather plain font that fail to excite the eye. The focus of this initiative would be to update the water towers with artfully design Rehoboth Beach text that would bring a sense of liveliness and fun to the area. One idea may be to update the lettering to look like postcard font with pictures from old downtown Rehoboth. Working with local artists would be an ideal fit that could turn the old stale water towers standing over the city into a photo opportunity every visitor hopes to capture during their stay(s). https://blog.spoongraphics.co.uk/tutorials/create-vintage-style-large-letter-postcard-design

    Staff Feedback:

What a creative idea! Your suggestion will be shared with the Board of Commissioners via a monthly report as part of the December 15 meeting.

    Idea/Comment:

I appreciate the updated landscaping at the Veteran’s Memorials near the restrooms. Now you can see and read the plaques.

    City Feedback:

Thank you for your comment. I'll pass it along to our streets department, who did the work.
